THE EXTRA MILE PROGRAM

Mountaineer Food Bank's (MFB) home delivery program, Extra Mile, focuses on alleviating child hunger by delivering food directly to the doors of vulnerable students and their families in Clay and Mercer Counties, West Virginia. This program partners with the county’s Boards of Education (BOE) to identify food-insecure children through Community in Schools programs, social workers, counselors, homeless facilitators, and other student support personnel.

MFB collaborates with DoorDash through Project DASH and utilizes BOE employees such as bus drivers and service personnel to deliver the food boxes.
