As an agency partner, Mountaineer Food Bank becomes an ongoing source of free or low-cost food to support food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other feeding programs across West Virginia.
Together, we work to ensure neighbors in need receive food with dignity, respect, and care.
Apply to Become an Agency
Nonprofit organizations interested in partnering with Mountaineer Food Bank can apply to become a member agency. Once approved, your organization will gain access to food resources and support designed to strengthen local hunger-relief efforts.
Benefits of becoming an Agency
As a Mountaineer Food Bank agency partner, your organization can:
- Feed your community with little to no food cost
- Access a variety of food items, including fresh produce and dairy
- Receive scheduled, monthly in-county food deliveries
- Strengthen your ability to serve neighbors facing food insecurity
Agency Responsibilities
To ensure food is distributed safely, fairly, and responsibly, agency partners agree to:
- Provide safe, free food to individuals in need without discrimination or judgment
- Maintain accurate food inventory and storage records
- Order food and products through Mountaineer Food Bank’s online ordering system
- Coordinate and manage in-county food pick-ups as needed
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify as an agency partner, organizations must meet the following requirements:
- Be a tax-exempt, nonprofit, publicly supported organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code and provide a letter of determination
- Operate a feeding program that serves individuals who are poor, needy, ill, elderly, homeless, or infants
- Provide food free of charge to all clients
- Maintain a non-discriminatory policy regardless of race, color, religious beliefs, age, disability, or sex
- Refrain from selling, trading, bartering, or fundraising with food received from Mountaineer Food Bank
- Follow strict standards for food safety, sanitation, storage, and temperature control
- Maintain regular days and hours of operation and respond to emergency food needs within the service area
Please note: Selling, bartering, or fundraising with donated food is prohibited and considered a federal offense.
